Why Is Social Justice Important

Various reasons come to my mind when asked why social justice is important to the social work value. Social justice is the pursuit of fair and equal treatment of members of our society. Many of us have chosen to follow a career in social work because we feel there are injustices in our world. Because of this, we have taken it upon ourselves to fight for the rights of vulnerable groups.
In this field, our duty is to advocate for the underprivileged, disabled, and disparaged while simultaneously offering support to these groups. A social worker’s primary function is to promote social change whether that be in education, poverty, discrimination, amongst a multitude of other issues.
