TECHNOLOGY AND SURVEILLANCE CONTROL
INTRDUCTION: Surveillance is a process of monitoring of behavior and activities of common people. The purpose of surveillance is to influence, manage , direct and protect common people. Surveillance includes observation from a distance by various technologies. It also include simple methods like intelligence agents and postal prevention.
The word surveillance come from French word .The meaning of this word is ‘watching over’. Surveillance is used by government for prevention of crime and protecting people. We often called surveillance as preventing of privacy. In the novel 1984, powerful party Big Brother controls its citizen. To control their citizen they adopt a plan of fear and manipulation .The important part of their plan is technology . Telescreen was the invisible eye of Big Brother ,which was necessary for common people to keep it in their homes. The totalitarian government used computers and technology to interfere the privacy of its people. Telescreen were installed in every home where Big Brother (the eye of the government) spies on the home life of everyone.
