Why Is Texting While Driving Illegal

Jacobe Marks 9/16/173rd Cellphone In my opinion i think using a cellphone while driving should be illegal because people could get in an accident. One reason i think cell phones should stay illegal while driving is because your insurance rate goes up. When your insurance company finds out that you have been cited for texting while driving your insurance may go up or possibly your policy will be dropped. Texting while driving could be very expensive whether you get pulled over and given a ticket or have been in an accident to where you would have to pay for hospital bills or to fix up your car. Texting while driving could be very dangerous especially if you have passengers in the car. Sending or reading a text message while driving puts your passenger’s lives at a
significantly higher risk of being involved in an accident while riding in your vehicle. Having someone to fight for their life is not worth one text. It could be a loved one in a the car with you and if they got injured because of you, you will be very disappointed in yourself. If you text while having a passenger in the car could cause them trauma in getting in a car with you. Texting and driving puts all the drivers sharing the road with you at risk, too, because you are unable to navigate the road while looking down at the phone in your lap. Motorist can be injured really bad. When you look at your phone you're not looking where you're driving you could hit another vehicle or even a pedestrian. You could get sued and have to go to court for injuring another person on the road. Having to go through that whole process is not worth it over texting a friend back while behind the wheel. In 2011, 1.3 million automobile accidents were caused by texting and driving.
Texting and driving makes you 23 percent more likely to be involved in an accident. Texting while driving is not worth hospital bills or even time in prison. When you text and drive puts people's lives at risk. If you need to text and it is urgent it only takes a few seconds to pull over so you don't get in an accident or harm others. People may not see you coming towards them fast enough to move out of the way. Pull over if you need to send a text or receive a phone call. This is why i think texting and driving should be illegal in all states. Putting people at risk is not the best thing to do. Just because you have to send a text does not mean that you need to harm or even traumatize other drivers or pedestrians. Driving safe is the number 1 way to go in all states. Its juts like wearing a seat belt. If you don't you get a ticket same goes for texting while driving. Texting while driving on the road is not worth having people get hurt for. Hurting others is one of my least favorite things in life. I just want everyone to be happy and not hurt emotionally or
physically.
