The California Gold Rush started during 1848 where James W. Marshall found gold. As a result; people around the world came to California for it. The Gold Rush lasted from 1848 to 1857. Somethings connect to each other even if they’re years apart; such as the California Gold Rush and the American Civil War. The gold rush of California was a cause of the American Civil War. It would make sense that the California Gold Rush helped start the American Civil War because it was before it. America was bigger and better after the Civil War, and it was also better after the gold rush. People used slaves to get the gold; strengthening tensions because slavery was the South's thing, but California was a Northern state.

The gold rush of California benefited San Francisco because it got on the map and the end of the transcontinental railroad was made in that city. More people came to California and more settlements and towns were made and grew because of the gold rush.
Lastly, the California Gold Rush played a role in starting the Civil War because slaves were used to get gold and some thought it was right, and others thought it was wrong. In 1850, two years into the gold rush, and eleven years before the Civil War started in 1861; California joined the Union. However there was still a grip at slavery, but being a Union state there shouldn’t have been. Slavery was the overall reason why the Civil War was started and fought.
Would it right to use slaves, especially to get gold? Judging by the fact that a war was started from it, and there’s none of it around here; it doesn’t seem so. One of the reasons the Civil War was started was because of the California Gold Rush. Slaves was used to get the gold that was found during the California Gold Rush; even though California started being a Union state in
