The Roman soldiers were orderly and uniform, the Dacians were not. The Romans were clean shaven and the Dacians were shaggy. The Roman’s did not wear leggings and the Dacians did (“Column of Trajan”, Becker). African Americans were the Dacians, and the white people were the Roman’s. The question of identity was the central part of influencing a war because according to Romans the Dacians were nothing like them.
