Have you ever wondered what makes a criminal commit countless crimes? Or maybe you haven’t put to much thought into it? Though everyone is responsible for their own actions, what if the criminal isn’t even considered an adult? What about the minors sitting in Juvenile Detention Centers? What about the minors sitting in adult prisons? What about them? Children still in the care of their parents or other guardians. It brings up the question of if parents/guardians should be held accountable for the child's behavior. Let’s look at the responsibility of parents. Besides the basics of a home and food ect, the overall job of a guardian or parent is to raise the child in loving and caring environment, and to show them the differences between right…
Juveniles commit a lot of crimes and much of it is because of influences and or surrounded lifestyles. Majority of the crimes committed by juveniles are violent crimes but the main ones involve drug abuse and simple assault. Juveniles makes bad decision but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re all bad, majority of them steal or choose a bad path. Everybody makes mistakes but doesn’t mean they all should get a punishment that makes them suffer for the rest of their life. Researches say “among them the discovery of striking changes taking place during the teen years. These findings have…
People see juveniles as being clueless and not having enough experience in knowing between their rights or wrongs. In the article "Greg Ousley Is Sorry for Killing His Parents. Is That Enough?" by Scott Anderson, it states that "he told his interrogator. “They don’t seem to understand me.”(Scott Anderson 11) It seems like some juveniles feel like their parents do not care or even try to help them. Juveniles need support and love from their parents because that will shape them as a person, and show them how to treat others. If the juveniles are not raised right, then it's not their fault on how they act towards others. In the article "Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentences" by Gail Garinger, it states that "Young people are biologically different from adults. Brain imaging studies reveal that the regions of the adolescent brain responsible for controlling thoughts, actions and emotions are not fully developed." Juveniles are still young and they are still learning through experiences so people can not really blame them 100 percent of the time. There are a lot of things that influence them too become evil with dangerous thoughts. Some things that influence them are like video games, how they see their parents act, violent movies and, what neighborhood they were raised…
Mae West once said, “you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” This saying tells us that everyone are so blessed to have an opportunity to live in this world, so each of us should appreciate every moment in life, and be wise to every action that people make. However, everyone has their own path in life. Unfortunately, some are choosing the wrong one. These days, most of young people are often do an illegal things like taking drugs and drinking alcohol, and even involved in a very serious crime. At their age, young people obviously know what are right and wrong even though they are not an adult by age, they think that they can have a second chance despite the fact that they a serious crime, and teenagers should treat as adult especially in some cases like personality disorders.…
In 2014, an estimated 4,200 juveniles under the age of 18 were convicted and housed in adult jails in the United States. Since 1999, when the incarcerated juvenile rate was at its peak at nearly 9500, the youth rate in adult prisons has fallen nearly half of what it was at around 4200 for crimes that these minors were convicted for as adults. With 2014 being the lowest year since 2000, there are only well over 1000 convicts under 18 years old that are held in state prisons and only 3-4% of those 1000 in state prisons are female. Though many may see these numbers as a success, it is a goal to prevent any child or adolescent from becoming influenced to commit a crime that will have them locked up in adult prisons with the true…
There are teens out there that commit heinous crimes because of what they have been through growing up and their house environment. But don’t take my word for it, let’s take a look at Jose. Jose is a fifteen year old who had a difficult childhood with his father being a heroin addict and his mother abandoning him. Instead of punishing him and sending him to life in prison, we should send him to a juvenile system instead to help him out. Paul Thompson argues that “Given this delicate-and-drastic-reshaping of the brain, teens need all the help they can get to steer their development onto the right path”. In prison, it is more likely they will become worse out there in the world because of all the mental and physical pain that they endured. Kids like Jose, need all the help that they can get.…

Many people argue that juveniles should be punished as adults when they commit heinous crimes. They argue that juveniles deserve to be punished as adults when they enact certain crimes. One can assume that the penalties given were so harsh that the juveniles learned the lesson that commiting crimes will lead to serious consequences. For many, the term juvenile delinquent likely conjures up images of groups of young men standing on street corners, wearing baggy clothes, and boasting defiant attitudes. Most of the teenageres are facing many obstacles such as child abuse, family disintegration, and economic and social deprivation. All these obstacles are taking them to drop-out of school. Many say that how you are raised will make you the person…
In the United States alone one in seven children between the ages of ten and eighteen run away from their homes. With this statistic, one million to three million children are homeless due to being a runaway child. Runaway children are kids that voluntary run away from home late at night without permission for their parents or care giver. The issues that causes a child to runaway is wanting to have the power over doing what they want to do without being told too, being seductive to alcohol or substance abuse, feeling of failure, fear of anger, not a great problem-solver, and does not feel loved by parent or care taker. Runaway children have three abilities on trying to succeed in running away; the ability, the willing and the opportunity, most children who gain all three are usually bold enough to run away and never return.…
