Why Literature is Important
Why is Literature so Important Anyway?
Literature is the foundation of life. While it is physically written in words, these words come alive in the imagination. Literature enables people to see everything in a whole different prospective; it is a journey that is inscribed in pages. Literature provides a gateway to teach the reader about life experiences through reading, from the saddest stories, to the most joyful ones that will touch their hearts. From a very young age, many are exposed to literature whether it is reading picture books and books with simple texts that are mainly served as a purpose of teaching the alphabet and getting them ready for even greater literature. As people grow older, they explore other genres of books, ones that propel them towards curiosity of the subject, and the overall book. The literature world prepares individuals from an early age to discover the true importance of literature: being able to comprehend and understand situations from many perspectives. Literature is the closest thing the world has to being able to understand each and every person from there different prospective.
Literature is an important component for all grade levels because of all the benefits it has to offer. Literature can provide pleasure for those who read it or write it. It is a good way to relax and just forget about the daily problems for a little while. Making time to sit down to read a good book can help relieve a lot of stress, and problems that have happened throughout the day. Literature appeals to our senses, to our feelings, our minds. For a while we are distracted and taken into a whole different world, a world where we can imagine anything and everything we desire.
Literature builds experience. Children and adults of all ages expand their horizons through experience. Reading encourages us to visit new places, meet new people, and create new experiences by expanding our imagination. Whether we read about the past or the present, we
