In today’s urban culture we see, hear, or talk about drugs almost every day. To most, America’s war on drugs is a joke, something to laugh at, and something to poke fun at. However, the war on drugs is a serious business that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Perhaps one of the biggest threats on the streets is the commonly abused gateway drug, Marijuana. Marijuana, weed, pot, Mary Jane, whichever you want to call it, is a disgusting drug that should never be legalized like alcohol or cigarettes. If anything, Marijuana should be hunted down to the far corners of the earth and burned without mercy.
Firstly, Marijuana makes people fat. Marijuana has the effect of making people lazy and mellow. It turns them into couch potatoes that seldom move from their imprinted spot on the couch or turn their eyes from the mindless television show that they aren’t really paying attention to. The drug is often abused as a social activity and couches everywhere suffer from the average of at least four overweight behinds crushing down on them for hours. In addition to making people lazy, Marijuana produces an effect known on the street as “the munchies”. The unnecessary and insatiable hunger of “the munchies” combined with the laziness marijuana induces makes for a fatal combination to victimized couches that I call the “fat factor”. The “fat factor” leads to drastic weight gain and more often than not a couch will suffer from several overweight people sitting on it at one time because of marijuana.
Not only does marijuana make people fat, it makes the most inappropriate situations funny to high people and make those people annoying. A blade of grass blowing in the wind, a honking horn in the street below, or a dog sniffing its own behind are all thing that I’ve seen a person laugh at when they were high on marijuana. The serious tone in a teacher’s voice used to make several of my classmates in high school laugh because they were abusing marijuana, interrupting
