Why Marlee Doesn T Talk?
Marlee doesn’t speak a lot. She is very shy. She tries to get herself to talk all the time, but she is never able too. Liz is a new girl at school, and loves to talk. She talks all the time. She tries to get Marlee to talk, but never has much success.
Liz, the new student looks a little different than the rest of her classmates. She doesn’t look much different, but people start to notice. She is colored, and tried to go to a white school. At Marlee’s sister's school, they are starting school late because of this problem. Marlee and Liz are great friends and Marlee doesn’t care that her friend is a different race, but her parents do. Marlee wants everything to be alright with colored people and white people. She doesn’t want there to be a problem with this.

She doesn’t always meet this goal, but when she does, she is more happy and confident. With her shyness, Marlee doesn’t have many friends, but when she actually talks to Liz she finally learns that by talking more, she can get more friends. She is very close to her sister Judy, but when she moves out of the room they once shared together. Marlee and Judy don’t seem to be as close anymore, which makes things difficult. Marlee decides to do a project with Liz, but Marlee has to actually talk during their presentation. Marlee agrees, so then she can get a book on magic squares. When she gets this book she learns so much more about something that is so much interesting to her. Liz is a loud and talkative person. Marlee tries ways to make her more quiet because Liz had asked her to. Marlee tries, but never can get her to be more quiet. This is okay though because they become closer as friends. Marlee’s mom gets fired from her job, and so did forty-four other people. This is because the school is downsizing and can’t have many teachers. She wasn’t exactly fired, just put on to the board, but won’t get
