Why People Go To Prison
Prison is a long and lonely road to go down and with some of the craziest laws in the country, it's not always clear why people go to prison or if the reasoning is even valid. The best thing that you could do to help pass the time is to write a letter to someone that desperately needs it. Things You'll Need: * pen * paper * envelope * stamp * photos Step 1: There are a lot of things to remember when writing to a prisoner. The first thing is that you cannot talk about anything that is illegal. You can't give them escape plans, tell them how to build a bomb from toothpaste and you cannot talk to them about committing crimes or crimes that you have committed. Also when you are writing your letters, you can't write in code or another language, this is …show more content…
If it is someone that you personally know, tell them about the good things going on in your life, the weather in your area or even the rising or falling gas prices. These may seem like the most boring things in the world to you but when someone is living your life for you and you get no say, paying $3 for gas is completely worth it. Never talk about anything sexual with your friend. This is because they do not want you to torture them, or make them do irrational things because they are lonely. Prison rape is a sad fact and happens often because people do not follow the rules. You have to remember that your friend is in a place that is filled with nothing but other men, or women as the case may be. Step 3: There are certain things that you cannot do when you are writing letters to prisoners. One of those things is writing in anything but a ballpoint pen. For some reason, they think that ink pens or pencil can somehow be infused with drugs or other things so they are not allowed. You are also not allowed to include glitter, confetti, stickers, metallic anything or extra envelopes and stamps in your letters. The person you are writing to will be provided with their own mailing supplies to write you

Throughout the centuries, both the system and the concept of prison have undergone many radical changes that eventually led to the formation of the prison as we know it now. In the 16th and 17th centuries, prison tended to be a place where criminals were kept in it while awaiting their punishment. It was a place, where criminals were held, rather than a means of punishment. In fact, criminals, at that time, were publically punished, rather than imprisoned, in the most torturous ways such as whipping, and slaughtering. However, in the 18th century, people in charge decided to put an end to these cruel methods of punishing. They came up with new methods of punishing instead of using torture in punishing criminals. In fact, the incarceration with hard labor was the new method of punishing criminals. Thus, the prison itself became a tool of punishment.…

The criminal’s rate might reduce if the inmates have a chance to go to college in prison. According to the article. “Inside San Quentin, Inmates Go To College”, Deragon said: “Most of the people believe that I’m being punished and that I shouldn’t have the right to an education. But at the same time, if I’m released onto the street and I'm not educated, then you’re just releasing another criminal.” I totally agree with his point of view about the education in the prison. In my opinion, I think the prison looks like a great wall, and it prevents inmates to contact with the outside life. If the inmates can't get education inside the prison, they won't have the knowledge, and they just make other crimes again when they get out of prison, and they…
