Why is this a problem, especially for teen drivers?| I believe that all car crashes are horrible, dangerous for everyone involved, and most likely always preventable. There's a couple reasons why i think its such a problem, especially with teenage drivers because.... Crashes are the number one cause of deaths among teenagers. More teenagers die in traffic crashes, then homicide, suicide, drugs and alcohol combined. Although teenagers represent 7% of the licensed population, they are involved in almost 20% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes.I could go on and on with facts, but overall lack of driving experience, visual search habits, distractions, speed and space management, and a poor driving attitude is why car crashes are such a problem with teenage drivers. |…

21 is the correct age since it would reduce the number of underage drinkers. The percentage of underage drinkers has decreased since 1984 when most MLDA 21 laws came into effect. Newly-legal drinkers often purchase alcohol for their underage peers, creating a "trickle-down" effect. Young adults 18 and younger are known for being irresponsible, so in result those who are 18 are more likely to buy alcohol for high school students and younger kids in middle school. This would cause an issues since the earlier someone starts drinking, the more addictive it can become. In a 2002 meta-study, 87% of the analyses found higher legal drinking ages associated with lower alcohol consumption("Drinking Age…

Teenagers should wait until they are older and have more experience to start driving. “ The only way to become a good driver is to get out and learn,” says O’Donnell. But in 2007, more than 4,000 teenagers died as occupants in teen- driven vehicles (Palicz). Furthermore, teens lack of experience not only costs them their lives, but the lives of others. Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. Some teenagers at the age of 16 are responsible. Some 16 year olds are irresponsible. Also, all 18 year olds are not responsible and able to drive the correct way. The state legislature should not raise the minimum age from 16 to 18 because some 16 year olds have a job and need transportation, a few may not like to depend on individuals to drive them back and forth, and many teenagers like to do their own things and not always with their parents.…

Scientists at the NIH campus in Bethesda, Md., have found that this vital area develops through the teenage years and isn't fully mature until age 25. One 16-year-old's brain might be more developed than another 18-year-old's, just as a younger teen might be taller than an older one. But evidence is mounting that a 16-year-old's brain is generally far less developed than those of teens just a little older.…
