Why People Watch Youtube Case Study
Social media nowadays is an important tool and communication aside giving valid information or any topic wants to know. Social media has high impact to everyone especially the younger generations. It may give negative and positive effect on us depending on how we use. YouTube may be popular to everyone for it comprises or total package from entertainment, fashion, beauty, DIY, travel and daily blogs channels have insensibly created a solid amount of content for those viewers who are interested to see how other people live. And they reason to share information related to those topics.

One is Social Cognitive Theory which occurs when people consume the video contents that they are watching. Social Cognition is made on two major parts: stimulus and response. Stimulus is represented by the information gained from the media source and Response is the conclusion that people automatically creates based on the information they receive (Shrum, 2002). Shrum also argues that not all the information people obtain creates actual opinion on something but there are selected data that people retrieves and prefers to remember. Shrum’s theoretical explanation meets Bandura’s practical approach regarding Social Cognitive. According to them, judgment is interpreted as behavior that people are choosing when earning specific information. They also stated that not all data are used up by the people and they do not use everything that they learn. People only do the information that they are related with or information that appeal to them. As a result to this, human behavior is determined by the influence of people’s environment and their attitude to a specific topic. Lev Grossman writes about the phenomenon in his article, “The Beast With A Billion Eyes”. He uses many literary devices when describing the trending website and its success.
