Why Should Child Soldiers Have Amnesty
Child soldiering is a global problem. Worldwide, there are about 300,000 child soldiers, most of them taken from their homes, forced to take drugs, and then told to shoot people for their superior’s amusement. Not only this but they are tortured, and treated like slaves for the rest of their lives. Even if they try to escape they will most likely be shot, but if they do end up escaping they will just end up being taken by someone else. Child soldiers deserve amnesty because, they are taken from their homes, treated like slaves, and manipulated to take other’s lives for the amusement of their superiors.

In the article it also states the following “”Child Soldiers,” said one of the peacekeepers. “The rebels use them in their first line of fire”” This is important because it shows how rebels are used to kill people. But they are drugged and forced to kill people, and it is not their fault that they kill people. Some opposers of child amnesty will try to make the little kids seem worse by using terrible words to describe only children. In this quote it says “My cameraman burst into the room telling me of a horrible ambush”. They use words like horrible to make it seem like it is entirely their fault, and that it was a disaster. Though the children did not really know what to do as strangers were approaching their territory, and they were forced, and drugged to do those things anyway. Even then the entire group of children were murdered right afterwards by a group called the Peacekeepers. This means that the argument that child soldiers do not deserve amnesty because they kill people is not as valid because they are drugged and forced to kill, instead of it being their own

While it may be very true that most average children know their actions, what if those children were not in a ‘normal’ state of mind? Child soldiers were drugged, beat, threatened, and tricked into feeling and thinking nothing except kill, kill, kill. Not only that with all this is emotional and physical abuse, if a child is emotionally and physically abused they tend not to feel anymore, and if they cause a crime then it shouldn’t be their fault, it should be the people who turned them into that, the people who manipulated them with drugs and violence into thinking that's okay. If the UN can give amnesty to the children who have been deprived of their childhood, and jail the people who caused it. That will show the commander what happens to children who they force to fight what…

Ranging from ages of 8 to 15, child soldiers are raped, abused, and sometimes even sent on suicide missions if they haven't died from the hardship put on a child in the military. 40% of child soldiers are recruited by force and many times forced to kill their family so that they don't have anything to come back to if they escape from the military.
