Why do we need sweatshops in our lives? Can sweetshops help under development countries people to live better life? Sweatshop is workshop for devices, clothes, or other works, and sweatshop is using poor country or developing countries for less prices. Sweatshops started in middle of 1800’s, and big factories still using it. There are some rich countries that have used sweatshop when they were under developing countries. The histories of sweatshop is likely bad, but after sweatshop got more popular in the third world countries sweatshop get better year after year. Although some researchers claim that sweatshop should be banned because of the low wages and they didn’t respect the workers because they are poor …show more content…
and there is no human right to against them, sweatshop should continue because sweatshop has good work condition, workers can make their choices, and good salary.
Some of sweatshop factories have a good work condition for workers even though it’s less than other high companies which are in first world countries.
However third world countries people live in horrible places and they need money to live better, so since sweatshop factories opened their door to the people they got almost better life than before. William Anderson who was writing about “Kathie Lee’s Children” mentioned that workers have free medical care air condition (par.8). Having medical insurance is good for workers even for their children. Sweatshop companies need good workers to have them work at their factories to develop their companies, so they need to have a good work condition as Anderson said that, the owners of the companies are trying to make better work condition to grab the great workers attention to come to the company (par.10). These activities are good for employees to develop their job and get more experience for the future. People think negatively about sweatshop they think sweatshop will never change the work condition for the workers, but this is wrong according to Nicolas D. Kristof and Sherly Wuduunn said in “Two Cheers for Sweatshops” that work condition have been improved for the workers (par.21). Employees got better work place than people thought because they didn’t have the same as the third world countries had, and not even close to their life style. …show more content…
Sweatshop factories start to compare each other’s work condition. Ivan G. Osorio said in his source that in Nicaragua Jose Village who changed his work from jeans maker to carrying basket at a market, and get more money than the other company as the worker said he got 20 times his last job (par.12). Sweatshops need to change their work condition to make the workers love their job or even stay on the same company. Sweatshop employees do work hard to get their money, they more than officer who works in first world countries. However, they have everything else according to the author said that sweatshop’s factories are better than in the US, and he said “It reported that they found people working hard for their money, but saw no instance of physical or verbal abuse…” (Osorio, par.10).The author wants to show that there is no evidence for abuse sweatshop or the bad work condition that the factories had it in the past. Sweatshop factories need people’s support to improve their work condition.
Sweatshop employees get choice to have a nice life and better job.
Workers can choose wither they work in the same company or they change to another. According to William Anderson says that “If young people and their families in the third world would be better off idle, they would stop working…, they would change jobs” (par.6). In Honduras people can choose if they don’t want to work they don’t have to. Moreover, workers have the right to change their companies because there are more sweatshop factories in Honduras as the author said that workers can change somewhere else if they don’t like the terms (Anderson, par.10).Also women have the right as well as men because many countries women can’t work as men, but in third world countries women have to work like men, and according to Rubi Garyfalakis who wrote an essay called “No Sweat?” said that women get experience and they practice about business working in sweatshops even thought they don’t get a lot of money(par.4). Women can improve their own finance and they can manage their time for their houses and children can go to schools (par.5). Women will have their own life they can choose to marry or to stay single know can control them if they have a job. Boycotting people want to shutdown sweatshop, but they don’t know what going to happen to the workers when they have no jobs. Boycotting media brought cute girl to grab people attention for how sweatshop is, and the thing come behind that is many people lost their job and
children get to work in danger places and less money. According to Anderson said that after a girl who talked to US media about how bad they live in Honduras because of sweatshop, and she told that they don’t have to shut down the factories. However her friends whom in her age which is 16 and under they lost their job, they worked as prostitution girls and the factories lost a lot of employees (par.12) .The workers need to quit their job wither they are under 16 or older because factories have less workers, so they lose workers and shut down. After sweatshop factories shut down workers need another job, so for the women they need to work in dangerous places to live.
People feel that sweatshop pay less money than the other companies and in fact that is true. However, sweatshop factories pay the workers more than they get it in their past jobs because in third world countries there are no good places for working. In Honduras workers get high wages than they get it in normal there, and according to the author said that workers in Honduras get wages five time other workers in the same country (Anderson, par.5). It means that employees get better wages. Moreover, one of the sweatshop factories’ worker talked to New York Times news about his income in the factory and said when he was in countryside he didn’t get enough money food, but when he worked in sweatshop factory he got seven times his last job (Anderson, par.9).Sweatshop factories improved their wages after years of less money and they started in Southern China according to Kristof says that “wages have risen from about $50 a month to 250$ a month or more today” (par.22). Year after year sweatshop factories will get better if people supported for the poor workers. When customers buy more clothes or anything that come from sweatshop factories’ employees get more money, according Osorio says that “An employee at a Nicaragua garment factory had a simple message for individual in developed countries… she told A Miami Herald reporter: I wish more people would buy the clothes we make” (par.13). the thing that people don’t know about sweatshop is when they stop buying clothes or anything else employees will lose their money. In 2000 400 employees left their job because customers stopped buying from sweatshop factories which are in Nicaragua (Osorio, par.15). People didn’t help employees of doing that it easy for sweatshop factories to change their places, but not easy for the employees to find better wages than working in sweatshop factories. Working in sweatshop factories with high wages is good for the employees and for the country too. For instance economy is very important for all countries, but every country has different their own business to grow their economy, and there are many countries they developed their economy by using sweatshop factories in their countries such as China and South Korea, and according to Kristof says that “If American had react to the horror stories in the 1980’s by curbing imports of those sweatshop products,…South Korea would have registered as much progress as they have today” (par.21). South Korea and China now they become one the richest countries in the world after they used to have sweatshop factories in their countries until now the economy have been grown because the sweatshop. Sweatshop helped other countries in Asia to grow their economy, BBC news join the conversation by adding some of the countries that they get their grown from sweatshop factories when they says that “A new World bank report says that east Asia is again in the world’s fastest growing region but reforms are needed to sustain its dramatic recovery” (BBC News, par.1). Also in 1997 the sectors was the world’s fastest rising economy which is in Asia (par.2). It’s showing that sweatshop factories helped many Asian countries to develop their economy, and these countries can open their own factories and make their own stuff because they got experience from having big companies in their countries.

Some people claim that workers are being exploited in sweatshops because they are working long hours with no brakes and receiving low wages. The employees are working 12, hours a day 7, days a week, and earning an average of 30 cents per hour. However, workers are overworking because they want to and the wages they receive are suitable for their lifestyle. Employees are satisfied because they have the opportunity to work longer hours and make more money. As they make more money, their lives improve. According to Kirstof when interviewed, many of the workers considered working more as a good thing that would benefit them (Kirstof, Par 11). In their perspective working long hours is a gift. The amount of money they earn from sweatshops is enough for their needs. Compared to developed nations the same amount is not much. According to Kirstof, a local restaurant in Thailand offers breakfast for the equivalent about 5 cents (Kirstof Par1). It is shown that the worthless five cents in developed countries can guarantee a meal in underdeveloped countries. The money they gain is suitable. Long hours and low wages are not an issue for workers of sweatshops from their point of view. In conclusion, Sweatshop is a factory that uses local people from underdeveloped countries to work with less money. In the other hands local people in the third world countries have no option wither they work in sweatshop or stay hungry because sweatshop give them enough money to buy food. Workers will be safe in sweatshop factories because they give them medical health case, and good air condition in some places, and every year sweatshop getting better with the conditions. Employees have chance to get better of choosing different sweatshop factory, and factories provide better job to find the best employees. Sweatshop has an average job with average wage in third world countries. Women in sweatshop have their own life, and they can make their own choices and for the children will have an opportunity otherwise they will stay in street and have nothing to do except the bad thing that they learn it from the street. When the women have chance to work children can go to school and learn better than working in street to bring food to their house. Sweatshop business help under developing countries’ economy to grow by opining sweatshop factories in the poor countries whom need their help, and sweatshop opened because it’s cheaper at the same time is good for the local people to get the job in sweatshop.
