When someone reaches out a helping hand to someone, they can easily be considered a hero. For instance, when Jason and the Argonauts arrived at Thrace. The Argonauts saw something very interesting, A blind man who’s food was being stolen from him by two large winged creatures; His name was Pineaus. When Jason saw him in trouble, he remembered that he was in need of some assistance as well, therefore shooing the bird off. The old man thankfully explained how long ago, he was a seer of Zeus. But, sine he had revealed too much of Zeus’ secrets, he made Pineaus blind, and even sent two creatures called Harpies, to ruin his food whenever he attempted to consume it. Since Jason needed some guidance, the elderly man agreed to help him out on hs continuing journey, if the birds stopped bothering him, and so he did. A major encounter in the novel is when Jason arrived at the palace of king Aeetes, to acquire the golden fleece. The deal was to fight odd fire breathing bulls, sow the fields with the dragons tooth which would produce warriors, and then fight off those warriors as well. Although Jason secretly knew that the only person who could accomlish such a feat would be hercules, he still took on the major challenge. With the little protection of Medea’s ointment which would make him unconquerable by fire, he rose up for the challenge. After completing all the steps, Jason finally got his hands on the amazing golden fleece. This would be of Hero characteristic for a couple of reasons. First off, as usual, Jason risked his life to keep his goals and prior arrangements in order.
