The use of the metric system in most of the world is much like how the SI measurement system is used most of science. The SI measurement system is very useful and simple to use in science as there aren't certain units in the metric system that are in the SI system. Scientists prefer to use one system of measurement because it keeps everything very organized and is usually the most useful. When I say it keeps everything very organized, I mean that it is better to use only one system and having a few units than using multiple systems and having many units to deal with. Also, scientists prefer one system because it has the units that are used constantly that aren't in other measurement systems. There are features of a measurement system that are important for the government, business and commerce. These features are mileage and what it may convert to in another measurement system. This can help governments know about the speed in certain areas of the world and how fast people should be driving. This could also help a business know about what other countries' mileage is like so they can advertise or something like
