LIST ONE BUSINESS PRINCIPLES
Conviction: Conviction is necessary to see out a goal. It allows people to concentrate. This is especially important within a business. It means the difference between prosperity and failure. Taken from the article “Why the Best Leaders have Conviction” by Travis Bradberry it states,”When a leader is absolutely convinced that he’s chosen the best course of action, everyone who follows him unconsciously absorbs this belief and the accompanying emotional state.” This is seen within Kane’s small group of trusted individuals. Charles Kane’s whole career was based on a risk. The Inquirer was a dead business that couldn't even produce past his rival the Chronicles. Kane was willing to take risks and splurge millions on his beloved newspaper. In turn the Inquirer became a booming business. This risk taking attitude turns into double-edged sword when it’s shown that later in Kane’s life he must sell off shares of his newspaper when he lost his bid for state governor. But without his willing nature to constantly try on the impossible he would have never have gotten as far as he did.
Competitive Spirit: Competition drives the business world. It’s a tool that can be used to improve your image and gain you recognition in your respective field. When the Inquirer is under the ownership of Charles a competitive nature is introduced. Kane makes it his main goal to surpass the opposing newspaper, the Chronicles. Kane meticulously compares production rates, teams, and stories. He even goes as far as to craft false stories to gain more readers. This is seen in a scene where it’s revealed there's no war in Cuba so Kane states, “You provide the prose poems, i'll provide the
