Children’s values and morals are nurtured when they grow up. Raising awareness of alcohol’s side effects and talking about it can prepare young people to make the right decision when they decide to have an alcohol beverage. In some families children are served small amounts of alcohol at dinner or family gatherings. They are taught that alcohol is not supposed to be drinking in big amounts.
Schools should also be involved in the education and teach how alcohol can affect future of the person who abuses it. Teachers should explain how dangerous it may be to drink without limits. This way a person who is 18 can understand that drinking in an irresponsible manner has a lot of consequences and can ruin a person’s life.
In many countries young people who are 18 or even 16 are allowed to drink alcohol. Young people who are introduced to alcohol early don’t find it that alluring as those for whom it’s forbidden. They don’t rebel against the law by trying to gain alcohol access in an illegal way. They know how alcohol tastes and they can either accept it or reject it. The opportunity to try alcohol at an age younger than 21 gives a feeling of being trusted.
