At the age of 18, people are legally considered an adult. As a result, they should get to choose if they want to drink or not. The Constitution and State Laws give 18 year olds several rights and responsibilities such as the right to vote, smoke cigarettes, serve on juries, get married, sign contracts, be prosecuted as adults, and join the military. These programs could teach them how to be responsible sooner because age does not always determine responsibility. They could make a class geared toward high school seniors to teach them about the dangers and responsibility of drinking. Kids will be able to focus more in school because they won't be worried about sneaking out to drink illegally. If people are 18 and have all these rights and responsibilities we should be able to decide if we want to drink or not.
Allowing 18- to 20-year-olds to drink alcohol in environments with supervision, could help decrease unsafe drinking activity. They would not feel like they have to hide and drink that, therefore it could decrease unsafe drinking activity. Less people will end up in jail cause they won't feel like they need to break the law because it is or won't be long until they can legally drink. It would be more safe to drink when citizens are in public places where there are other people if someone needed
