It was a conflict bound to happen due to the differences between the North and South’s views on slavery, society, and politics. They depended greatly on the North for their industries and factories, because they had very few. They also opposed federal spending on internal improvements and they wanted no tariffs. Even despite having a somewhat weak economy, the South wanted to gain their independence to become their own country, and to have their own way of life, which included slavery as legal. When Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860, the South thought that they would have no voice in the government, considering that Abraham Lincoln was against slavery. In hopes of being their own country, the South had no intention of fighting a war. However, before the war started, the South was unwilling to compromise. They thought that slavery should be allowed in all of the territories. They disagreed to the Missouri Compromise and to parts of the Compromise of 1850. Many felt that these compromises were unfair and biased. The South felt that their way of life and views on slavery were right and just. They turned to what they thought was their only choice: seceding from the Union. This enrage the North, which was one of the main causes of the Civil War. To conclude, the Civil War was an unavoidable occurrence in the history of the United States. With both sides unwilling to compromise or to find a settlement that pleased them both, there was no other option. If each side had been a

The Election of 1860 was another reason the South wanted to secede because Southerners were afraid that President Lincoln would abolish or get rid of slavery in the South. The causes of most wars are often very complex, but in the America civil war it came down to two major issues, slavery and the protection of the Union. In the North, they were growing richer all the time as industry developed fast. The workers were mostly immigrants with low wages. The South didn't have these resources, and the slaves were essential for them. The Northern politicians insisted that the Slavery should be abolished and that this was an evil system that should be stamped out. Only the rich wool farmers and other wealthy southerners had their own slaves, but most of them thought each state should decide its own politics rather than the federal government in Washington. When the war started most southerners fought for their States' right and not just the slavery question.…

A great number of accumulated differences between the North and the South led to the Civil War in the USA. The two parts of the country were developing at a different speed in the first half of 19th century, leading to a disparity in their economic situations as well as their social, cultural and political beliefs. While it is true that the US Civil War was triggered off by the issue of slavery, it would still be unfair to say that this phenomenon was the only cause of this war. However, slavery was the burning issue and the primary cause of the economic differences throughout the country, which eventually prevailed and led to a bloody conflict.…

    2) I think the Civil War was inevitable because of the federal government’s treatment and sometimes babying of the South. As stated earlier, every time the South wanted something (increased federal protection of slavery, expansion of slavery. etc.) or were against a law passed (Tariff – Nullification Crisis of 1832) their go-to method of getting their way was to threaten secession from the union. I think the fact that the federal government sometimes entertained them was what made the South so bold into thinking that they could pull that card if the North was not behaving in the way that they wanted them to in order to get what they wanted.…

Within six months of Lincoln’s election in 1860 as President of the United States, several states had seceded from the Union, and the American Civil War had begun. The bloodiest war America has ever fought was the Civil War. The Civil War was fought between North and South America. This war was many years in the making. With every new tax, tariff, law, or new state entry the North and South disagreed. All though the most deadly war in American history is thought to have been fought over slavery, the great Civil War was really a conflict of many differences. The North and South had many differences not only with slavery, but voting equality, different economic resources, and their own ideals on the powers of the federal government. The economy was by far the biggest issue that caused the union to break apart, but moral issues certainly had a large impact on the beliefs of northerners and slavery. These differences came to a head when abolitionist president Abraham Lincoln was elected into office. The culmination of these three differences instigated the beginning of the Civil War.…
