Why We Should Not Have School Uniforms
“The best freedom is being yourself” (Jim Morrison). I believe that this quote would help the fact that uniforms should not be allowed in schools unless everyone wants them. You cannot deny someone their own individual rights as people in America. All people should be free to choose if they want school uniforms or not.
Students who wear the uniforms may not think that they are comfortable, and it may distract them from learning at school. If the reason we go to school is to learn, then why let school uniforms distract us from it? Children should be able to choose what they wear for school without the government’s influence and make it as comfortable as they feel like. By the child not being able to dress themselves for school, it may delay their transition into adulthood. Ninety percent of seventh and eighth graders disliked uniforms (procon.org). Why force

If a school chose to have school uniforms, it may pose a problem for families. Public school uniforms may be too much of an additional cost which leads to even bigger problems. Problems like not having enough food or not even having the basic necessities of life. It could cause families to get broke. However, making families go poor must not be important at all to some people considering that many schools are fond of school uniforms no matter how much the students loathe them. Although there is some evidence that school uniforms are beneficial, school uniforms are an awful choice. To not have uniforms would be the solution to this problem. Instead of school uniforms, set rules for students. When your school has uniforms, you will agree that school uniforms are a distraction to learning and a hassle. Even though there are some other pros to having school uniforms; I think that it is everyone’s best interest not to have school uniforms. In conclusion, school uniforms deny individuals of their freedom, and should not be mandatory at

When was the last time you saw a child in their school uniform? Probably quite recently. But have you ever thought how these children feel ? their entire school is wearing the same thing they are wearing? These children wear the same thing every single day they go to school. The only time they get to wear their own style of clothes is on the weekend. Making children wear the same thing everyday, thinking it's a good idea that helps them in school, probably only makes them hate school more. There are many reasons why school uniforms are a bad idea and should not be enforced on children. To start with, to buy them costs a lot of money. Secondly, school uniforms stop the child’s individuality from being expressed, keeping the entire school as…

Throughout the years, there has been much debate with schools across the country on whether or not students should be allowed to wear uniforms. Through past experience with this argument, it’s safe to say that wearing a uniform is not a bad thing at all. Why? For one, uniforms stop other students from being judged on how they look, two, they save families money and students will not pressure their parents into buying clothes some families can’t afford, and lastly uniforms increase safety and security. So I do strongly agree that students should be able to wear uniforms.…

Identification is one of the biggest factors ruled in against school uniforms. Many people state that you could easily site outsiders of the school, and it would also eliminate gang colors. If you have a school full of children with the same clothing on you would find it nearly impossible to identify a child who was causing trouble. One example is if someone caught a glimpse of a child stealing and then tried to give a description. The description would most likely fit a majority of the students in the…

This paper is about the issue of school uniforms and whether or not for schools (K-12) to require them. I analyzed three strong arguments from both sides of the issue. The side advocating uniforms argued that school uniforms keep students focused, which may lead to an improvement of grades. Advocates state uniforms deter students from crimes and save money for parents by relieving parents of the pressure of buying new clothes for every school year. The other side of the issue against uniforms in schools argue that uniforms threaten and infringe on student’s freedom of expression by requiring students to wear the uniforms with consequences if not hearkened. The opposition to uniforms also presented a study where the students oppose…

Who loved whom more - Romeo or Juliet? In my opinion, Juliet loved Romeo more than he loved her because her love was more intense. Juliet was not Romeo's first love, so that "first time" beauty of love didn't apply to Romeo. Juliet had not fallen in love before so her love for him was way stronger because it was her first time. Romeo had loved before, Juliet had not.…

"Just slapping clothes on kids won't improve a school, but uniforms accompanied by other reforms can make a difference. Uniforms send a message and remind students that they are in school. One element of the message is that when you are going to school, that is your place of work. That is the place where you are working at getting smart." ~Joe Palumbo. Uniforms cause children to be more civilized and mature in what they are doing. It could lead the kids to a greater future and teach them to be more proper. It is a great idea for schools to implement a policy on school uniforms because it provides more focus to learning, reduces peer pressure, and increases school pride.…

However, as stated previously, school is a place to learn not, not to show off your clothing line and your personal swagger. Clothes don’t pick who you are, wearing the uniforms will show that they are all equal and that no one is better than the other one. So, I believe that wearing the uniforms will beneficial to the school, students and parents. Society must decide if individual expression through clothing is more important than education performance being improved because of uniforms being implemented into the school system. Parents and students should remember that uniforms may be required during school hours. After school students can express their individuality in a way, they dress outside of the…

In July 19 2009 Dr. Alan Hifler did a study on school uniforms and the effects they had on students. Uniforms have been common in public schools since 1994 and since then the dropout rate for schools that don’t have uniforms have increased. The requirement of school uniforms is a turnaround for students because students would benefit from this. Schools everywhere should bring them back. It is a great idea for schools to enforce a policy on schools because research shows that students can achieve success.…
