Now they did list at least ten different reasons on why God is so almighty and powerful. I will simple list them and not go …show more content…
into detail because its redundant in our class discussions and no need to take up space on this three-page paper; like I just did. God is almighty and will display the following characteristics: omnipotence; omniscience; perfect goodness; aseity; incorporeality; eternity; omnipresence; perfectly free; alone worthy of worship and unconditional commitment; creator and sustainer of the world. This list is a pretty tall order of requirements of characteristics that must be display by God. Since when did set the required characteristics for our creator. They also set characteristics of what evil is: some harm being done; unjust treatment; premature death; not allowing a fulfilling and virtuous life; doing something morally wrong; privation of good. So now that we have what our God is supposed to be like and how to identify evil. We need to know how to identify the good. Good characteristics can be displayed by the following examples: come improvement in your well being; just treatment; advancing the fulfillment of someone or something; being morally right; optimal functioning of someone or something.
There are various kinds of evil in this world there is moral evil, natural evil, and horrendous evil. Horrendous evil are acts that violates or tortures someone or something. A good example is rape, incest, child pornography. Natural evil is an act that cannot hold others accountable for this natural event from happening. No one caused the event to occur; however, we must try and get through the motions whether it be a death that occurs or natural disaster. Moral evil is something that is the result of a decision that is made by someone and they were able to use free will and the choice they made was not wholly good. Evil has many faces experimental and theoretical. When you think of evil in a theoretical point of view its an intellectual stand point that focuses on how we will be impacted and how we can improve this so that the next occurrence is less likely to affect us. With evidential points of view evil counts against theism and they see this in a more scientific point of view to where the evil is making the probability lower the God exists. Here they look at the evidence then draw conclusions in order to improve the probability of the value of God’s existence.
Then clarity came from James Sennett whom supported the claims that William Rowe theory that with evil in this world make it seem like there is no God and that he does not exist.
James thought that this idea was the strongest, clearest, and easily understood theory. Rowe states that suffering is omnipotent, omniscient being could have prevented without losing the whole greater good aspect so not let evil permit equally bad or worse A wholly being God should prevent intense suffering from occurring without losing some greater good or permitting some evil equally bad or worse. There is no omnipotent, omniscient, wholly good being, This contradicts the idea of the feel logical premise this is a belief about God being a perfectly good being that would do under certain circumstances. This means that God no that intense suffering is about to happen and Ben would prevent it but could not prevented if he is losing some sort of greater good or permitting some equally evil act itself because a whole good God would not permit evil acts to …show more content…
occur.
Factual premise is another argument that row focused on stating that it purports to state a fact about the world and how we can relate and prevent an occurance that may have a direct impact on us or our community.
Rowe does not claim to know or be able to prove that cases of intense suffering pointless. He gives example of how an omnipotent being and omniscient being can out weigh situations that will be justified to whether who is more likely to not impact us directly and impact a lesser population instead us directly. One must simply outweigh the lesser of the two evils and determine which will be a better option for the community
itself.
Evil can be interpreted in many ways as well as the good acts. Depending on the moral fundamentals and view points of someone they can determine how to cope with the two. Some rely just on their free will and don’t ask or get down to the definition and reasoning of why evil actually occurred which some feel the need to keep asking questions that only contradict a earlier teaching from a philosophers theory. Causing more divides within the community due to the difference of their opinions on how to classify why evil happens and why God lets it happen. We simply do not know the reason. We are not capable of understanding why a higher being decides to let things happen because we do not know the bigger picture that is behind it.
