Skating is an important form of recreation in winter. It has developed into three different sports: speed skating, figure skating, and ice dance. All three are now features of Winter Olympic.Today, I am going to focus on ice skating. The reason I chose this sport is because personally, myself had done figure skating in the pass and I really like this type of sports where it involve some type of dance.
Ice skating is a type of sport where you can do it individuals, duos, or groups and to perform a type of dance on ice. In 1908, it was the first winter sport that had included in Winter Olympic. In the Olympic, there are man’s single, woman’s single, pair skating, and ice dancing. It may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, and other elements or moves if it is figure skating.
Professional skaters have to have figure skates to skate. The professional figure skates include a boot that custom-made for each foot and covered with thick, stiff leather and extra ankle bracing. In addition, it includes a blade, the modern blade has a very slight curve, which the radius is equal to 180-220 cm. Figure skaters are doing majority of their practice on a ice rink. Olympic-sized rinks have dimensions of 30 m × 60 m (98.4 ft × 197 ft), NHL-sized rinks are 26 m × 61 m (85 ft × 200 ft), while European rinks are generally 30 m × 64 m (98 ft × 210 ft). There are 4 qualities used to judge the ice of ice rink: smoothness, friction, hardness, and brittleness. Some important factors may affect the ice quality, it includes temperature, water qualit, and the usage of ice. For a figure skater, the ice temperature of 24 °F (-4 °C) is generally preferred.
Majority of the participants of ice skating are teenagers. Today, kids love to spend their time with friends at ice rink. Some kids even have their birthday party at a ice rink. However, there are also some
