A couple years later, after repeating hard levels of skating classes due to many difficulties in the moves and in getting new skates, I finally leveled up to the Free-Skate classes. In figure skating, we have several levels, depending on your association. I am currently associated with both the USFSA (United States Figure Skating Association,) and the ISI (Ice Skating Institute). The USFSA is the path most skaters take if they want to go to the World Championships or to the Olympics. ISI is just for recreational skating, you can do some competitions here and there, but nothing like the Olympics. My old coach, Ms. Rory, didn’t give me the proper elements to do during the solo. When you skate a solo, it is like making a cake. The skater, need to bring the right ingredients that are required. For my level, I needed 3 jumps, 1 spin, and our dance step sequence (it is different for every level). I didn’t have any of the right element, so when the cake was baked, this is when the judges were scoring, I didn’t do very well. My cake was nasty, and I was bitter. When a teammate was watching, she told her mom that I wasn’t doing the right things. Her mom brought it up to my mom, and my mom told me. My mom still wanted to me enter my solo in my next competition, and I did, the team got 1st place which was awesome, my interp got 2nd place and my solo got
