When Dr. Ben Carson was in elementary school he did not have the greatest grades in the world. Subsequently he began to believe that because his grades were poor that he himself was not intelligent enough or good enough and that there was nothing he could do to change that. As his grades declined even further his self-esteem declined right behind them. Luckily Mr.Carson had a mother that knew he was far more than what his grades said or what he thought himself about himself. I think that the younger generations need to look back and remember the older generations. We are beginning to forget where and what this nation came from and stood for. Knowledge and hard work are being replaced by ignorance and laziness. We don't seem to take education as seriously as previous generations and have lost our appreciation for it. We want to graduate High school and then College with as little effort as possible and then we want to put that same lack of effort into our job. We are a generation consumed with ourselves and our entertainment. Somehow we have tricked ourselves into the belief that all we have to do is to sit back and do nothing and the cash will keep on flowing in.
