look in to their grievances. Thirdly, women in prison also face traumatic ruthless disciplinary practices over the wrongs one may commit. In comparison to male offenders, women have been found to receive severe punishment over the same wrong. Fourthly, they lack sufficient and meaningful substance abuse treatment that is supposed to help them in rehabilitation. This therefore only makes prisons as a lock down for wrong doers and not a corrective facilities ( Huebner et al,2010).
In mediating these issues, the prisoners should be allowed more frequent visiting hours in order to allow their beloved to visit them. A good environment should also be crated to encourage children visitations. Secondly, proper procedures should be established to act as guidelines for investigations of such crimes and sexual abuse. Corrective and vocational programs should be emphasized in order to rehabilitate women in prison as well as taking care of their mental health ( Cobbina, 2010). Another solution is that prisons should put an emphasis on drug rehabilitation as women in prison suffer from drug addiction. Since almost 10% of women who are imprisoned are pregnant, it is only logical to come with policies on how to ensure that the mother and the baby have more time together. Mother's are hardly given time to spend time wand bond with their new born babies. In some states, A cancellation of parental rights is issued where a mother is denied any rights as a mother to her children. Some of the things that can be implemented is, development of special visiting areas where a mother can spend time with her baby ( Huebner et al,2010).
