Wooden Handle Creative Writing
The wooden Handle was cold, as I swung the axe down. Ok maybe it's just a hatchet, well actually it's just a stick with a sharp rock. But it's mine and wielding it, the waterlogged stick fills me with pride . No it doesn’t make me a warrior or a superhuman but it proves I’m not just one of the other kids sitting around waiting. Waiting for what. I’ll never know. The wet wood freezes my already chilled hands. But I hold on tighter, and swing harder. My calluses and blisters burn. But not as much as this wood will tonight. The sun quickly started setting into the horizon. The last log felt like a race with sun, it excited me. My arms were heavy legs weak but splitting that wood was an easy task. With wood chips flying, through the air. I take

Briskly walking through the mysterious darkness of the menacing forest, grasping tightly my withering frozen hand, my petrified newly wed wife clung on for protection. It was pitch dark on a cold foggy night in the mid days of December. We were in search of somewhere to rest our staggering and lost bodies. My wife and I had been walking for miles through this never ending cursed old forest.…

A colossal sycamore tree stands before young Billy. He has his ax in the palm of his hand, unsure about whether or not he should cut down the ancient tree. One look from his dogs gives him the answer he needs. He hacks at the tree, little pieces of wood flying out quickly at first. As the time crawls by his swings are less forceful than before and his arms come down slower. Finally…

The splashes of the freezing spillway mixed with the cold wind coming off the water sent chills down my back. I yawned, the loud purr of the tugboat next to us made it impossible to hear my uncle ask if I was tired. We were passing the train of barges right after we left the launch and were headed into the woods. I have done all this before. It was all familiar to me. The only difference was that I had never been out here this early. The eerie white light of the moon was the only thing that let us see right now. Luckily for us the moon was huge and full tonight. It was about 4:30 in the morning and we were speeding into the swamps of the spillway. I looked at my uncle and I saw him standing up, driving the boat, with a smile on his face. This was his job and he loved it. When you love the wilderness, being out in the woods for eight hours a day was a treat. Especially when it ended with picking up a paycheck of about a thousand dollars at the end of each of those days.…

I felt the stock of my bow while I was sitting in the blind. Frost had already began to form where I rubbed it off seconds ago. I looked through the small window at the everlasting snow. “Wait, was that a deer moving along those trees?” I asked myself. It looked more like a kangaroo making its way through the snow. I could barely stand up in the cold. I pulled back, ready to take the shot.…

    1. In line 15, Frost describes the saw as being sinister. He infers that the saw has a mind of its own, by stating that the saw jumped out of the boy’s hand and cut the boy’s hand terribly. Frost also makes it seem as if the saw is in a way, like a friend. He does this by demonstrating that using the saw is an advantage for the boy because it is making his job ten times easier. Without the saw, the boy would spend hours cutting through the wood.…

Today's children in the class room are no longer being taught to write in cursive. I don't think this is such a bad thing. As the world changes, so does technology. Children of today should be taught more computer skills and sufficiant typing rather than writting in cursive.…

The sledge knocked in the hill and Jonas was jarred loose and thrown violently into the air. He fell with his leg twisted under him while he could hear the crack of his bone. His face scraped along sharp edges of ice when he lay shocked with fear. Then he felt the first wave of pain. It was like a hatchet lay lodged in his leg, cutting through each nerve with a hot blade. He tried to move but couldn’t because the pain grew. He screamed and turned his head and vomited on to the frozen snow.…

“There was not a moment to lose. He drew the ax out all the way, raised it back with both hands, hardly aware of what he was doing; and almost without effort, almost automatically, he brought the blunt side down on her head. He seemed to have no strength. Yet the moment he started bringing the ax down, strength sprang up in him” (74).…

The icy lands whipped him in the face. The cold heart of the land was beating like an ice wraiths heart. Cold and barren, He trudged along the frozen land. The heavy armor was wearing him down. The wind wasn’t helping much ether. The sound of his footsteps on the hard snow made crunching sounds each time his heavy plated foot hit the ground. He was covered from head to toe in an ebony encasement. Not a single piece of flesh exposed except an opening in the face. Two ice cold eyes stared out of it. There was a long trail of a sanguine liquid ran into the snow, hard as a rock before it touched the ground. He kept trudging along… the wind did not cease. It was about an hour until he found shelter. It was an Ancient Nord ruin. A long and forgotten door was only hanging by its rusted iron hinges. He pushed on it and it crumbled on his slightest touch. He gracefully rolled down the stairs and entered. He awoke a little later slightly groggy but ok. He was out of the wind. He was in a puddle of blood… it was pooling at his side. He needed to do something fast. He reached over to one of the ancient stone tables and searched. He found some old linen wraps and put them at his side. He unstrapped his ebony breast plate and took off his helmet. He then took off his breast plate. A red hot burst of pain erupted in his side, he screamed out in pain. That was a mistake, down the hall he heard the guardians awake. He was in no shape to fight and needed a plan. He looked around and saw a big urn. He went over to it and slid inside, not making a single noise. About halfway down the wall of the urn there was a little crack, not too big to see inside but just enough for him to see out of it. Footsteps filled the hall and a squad of dragers came rushing in to see what all the commotion was. They are Ancient Nords, before the 1sr era, about 2000-3000 years old there ancient bones make squeaking noses just to move. They guard all Ancient Nord ruins to the death. Well there…

The oceans have refused to rid the blood that stains my once pale and innocent hands. Even the strongest bleach in this dammed world cannot cleanse my body of the guilt I have forced upon myself. We have been consumed… No blinded just at the mere sight of power. And now all I can remember is the blood. The metallic taste burns each and everyone of my taste bud off of my tongue until all that’s left to taste is my very own blood. The smell has clinged to me like a perfume I have been drenched in. The sound.. A blade tearing through skin… human skin.. then the color, it was so vivid. As if you were staring at the sun with your bare eyes and they caught fire. And the feeling. Warm, dripping down my hands, seeping into my clothes. I find I am no longer able to walk without slipping on the pools of blood that cover my bedroom floor. There is no escape. Not even in sleep. I was overwhelmed by ambition.…

I am stolen from my reverie by crunches on crystallised slush, over yonder by the remaining entrance to the abbey's structure. Stepping forward, my dark-rimmed eyes seeking for any sign of animation, I stumble, my foot had caught on the mossy head of a ragged stone, casting me heavily upon the frosted ink of the ground. Groaning in a paroxysm of fury, I thrust by boot upon the stone, with such a passionate force, as to crack it in two. Cursing vehemently, and requesting my heart to recommence a steady beat, I hitched my breath and sat upright, my frost-bitten fingertips cast into the snow. My fingers found a second set, attached to a delicate hand as icy as the kiss of death! An acute convulsion of nightmarish terror tore through my chest, and I was petrified to my position. A most wistful voice cried, "You vowed you cared nothing of my miseries! A liar through and through! You bid me haunt you in a fervent rage, and yet you pray with a cursed tongue to be rid of me!" Forcefully, I snatched my hands from the creature's grasp and thrust them upon my ears, so as to banish such horror-inducing…

It was a dark rainy night; the rain came down hard, sheet upon sheet, of bone chilling rain. I lay relaxed on the couch watching a horror movie when suddenly there was a loud crack of thunder and then there I lay all alone in complete darkness. I felt a little nervous but hazardously made my way to the kitchen by the guidance of the moons light. I went in search of a torch and found one on the kitchen table. I flicked it on and at that precise moment I heard a crash from above. I started to make my way towards the stairs; torch clutched tightly in one hand and a gun in the other. As I ascended the stairs I felt an ice cold gust of wind which made me tremble all over. As I reached the second floor I found that the window was no more but shattered glass on the ground. I spun around in search of the perpetrator. As I made my way towards the shattered window something powerful tackled me and knocked the breath right out of me. I started to collapse to the ground; this sent my torch and my gun flying through the air and land in complete darkness. I turned towards my attacker and gasped in shock. It seemed like a vicious, four eyed beast with long fangs which looked like it was craving flesh; my flesh. I searched along the ground for a weapon that may assist me and to my relief I came across a sharp object. It was the shards of broken glass from the window. I grasped it tightly and started to stab the beast ferociously. Its skin was hard but I could feel the glass piercing it and its unusually thick blood oozing down my arm. I felt its hot putrid breath upon my face as it growled viciously revealing rows upon rows of sharp yellow teeth. It started to back away but I could see that it was preparing for one final attack. The moon lit up the entire room with an array of bright light and I managed to spot the gun. I made a dive for it and at the same time the beast made a dive for me. It ripped through my leg with is enormous teeth as I…
