them during their expansions, which is the sense of community. According to Charles Grant with The Guardian, “The union has been built on the principles of the free movement of goods, services, labour and capital; of equal rights for all citizens before European law; of equality among the member-states; and of significant financial transfers from richer regions to poorer ones.” The principles that Grant listed are what are also called values. The E.U. has established these values so that as an organization everyone knows them and they progress together. To the Hispanic culture as well as to the European culture, there major principal is family. Family to Hispanics always comes first before money, work and friends. For the elders in the Hispanic community it is important for the future generations to speak the native language, spanish. If they don’t it is greatly frowned upon. Religion is a very close second to family values. Their values are often impacted by their religion which is predominantly roman catholic. Sundays are always spent valuing god and spending that day as a family.
In general, values are a person's principles or standards of behavior or one's judgment of what is important in life. Over time research has started to show that values for teens has decreased in importance. Catherine Pearson with the Huffington Post has acquired data from 1970 to 2007 that teens have become more materialistic yet their work ethic has decreased. The decrease of work ethic will in the long run harm more teens if this value isn’t correct and applied in the future.
As teens begin to grow and start families of their own. Elders find their grandchildren as a sort of fulfilment. They are their future lifeline, the people they can give their wisdom to. Elders have and can pass on a diverse and insane amount of wisdom that no one else has. They begin to cherish time and happiness. They start to look past the overloads of work, lack of time and happiness. People get so invested in chasing money that they realise their life is almost coming to an end and there will be little time to spend this money. Time, love, happiness are the main values of the elderly.
Values incorporate culture, religion, race, beliefs, bountiful of things. With all of these incorporated there isn’t a single person with your same value. Values are as unique as every individual. Your values are always something you chose and decide.
