Were you surprised by your results?
I was not surprised by the results of the survey. It shows that I am someone who prefers a secure, stable environment where the staff is friendly and supportive and the management is considerate and caring. I seek a place that is comfortable and has plenty of opportunity for advancement. All of the items listed seem like criteria that everyone would want out of their job, such as a fun and safe place to work, high salaries with the likelihood of rapid promotion and other benefits. With any luck, when I do begin looking for a job in my new career field I will find one that meets these criteria. What resources in the My Career Plan and Phoenix Career Services site did you find that could help you in your career preparations?
There are many resources located in the My Career Plan and Phoenix Career Services section that will be useful to me as I prepare for a new career. The create a resume section will assist me in building a professional resume that properly highlights who I am, which will be in most cases an employer’s first look at me. There are also sections that are designed to assist me in creating an online profile and create a professional network. I can research the industry for my particular career, search for jobs and create a list of potential employers. My Career Plan contains many sections that are aimed at assisting me in preparing for interviews such as how to dress for success, preparing for an interview and following up after an interview.
How did the work culture preferences relate to your personal competencies from Week Two?
There is definitely correlation between my personal competencies and my preferred work culture and environment. For example one of my competencies was following instructions, which can be summarized as someone who follows the rules and benefits
