Life lesson you can learn from working at a fast food restaurant
Introduction- It is a typical Monday, school was long and boring and senior year is taking a toll. I have to work after school… Yuck. Daily I find myself wishing I didn’t have to spend another 4 and 1/2 hours working with hot grease and angry customers. Though some days are long and the thought of work is daunting, I honestly wouldn’t have wanted to spend the past few years anywhere else. Most people consider fast food a menial job for unintelligent people, but I have to disagree. Walking into fast food I would have never thought my life could be enriched in so many ways. McDonald's has taught me about life, about myself, and even about who I want …show more content…
This is the saying in the fast food world; There’s no such thing as down-time in the fast food industry. Quite honestly, there’s no such thing as down time in life. For me hearing this saying over and over has helped improve my work ethic tremendously. “I believe work ethic is a skill that must be taught, not just spoken of. You couldn’t effectively teach a kid how to tie his shoe without the actual shoe and the laces. You can’t teach a kid to ride a bike without the experience of having to balance the bike, grab the handlebars, place your feet on the pedals, and push. Others however are regular people I see almost every day that talk to me and really care a lot about my life, one of these people happens to be Ray.. Ray is a crazy old man who not only bothers us McDonald's but also every other fast food restaurant. (he likes us the best though) Ray loves talking to me. ( sometimes he even calls us on the phone) he asks about my day and how I've been sometimes he gives me good stern advice that I need to hear in my life.Even though he had only known me for the 2 years I’ve been working at McDonald's we have created a bond. Only that can happen at any fast food place anywhere. You learn how to appreciate people all different and allow them to make an impact on your life even if you don’t know it yet. there are the really good people like Ray and also some bad ones. A man once screamed and yelled at me because he got a free coffee seriously a free coffee and I couldn’t say a word to him because he was a customer in that moment, though I realized he was a bad person having a bad day and fighting with him wouldn’t make me feel any better. Also there are the really good people that you only see once and they give you hope for humanity again like this nice lady who once gave me a dollar tip because she didn't understand why everyone else gets tipped so why shouldn't I... Isn't that just the sweetest thing. Like wow. Anyway McDonald's teaches you about all people,
