Every person over 14 wants to work. Whether they like it or not everyone needs money. During the Industrial Revolution children were able to work. Without them the Industrial Revolution would not be the same. In fact 18% of the workers in America were under 16. And the reason most were employed is because the could be paid less, they didn’t have many restrictive labor laws, and they can fit in small spaces that adults couldn’t fit in. This made work for children hell, and nothing could be done. It took The Great Depression for the government to reform because of the job's children were taking up. All in all when you look at the facts The Industrial Revolution probably couldn’t have occurred without children, but could it have been done differently and more cautiously to prevent disasters, death, and depression? If a workplace were to fail they would be shut down and fined for not meeting the requirements. Back in Industrial Revolution times this would not occur if the inspector found money magically in his or her pocket if they found something wrong . Working conditions back then resulted in many different types of illnesses that translated to deaths and outbreaks that spread across the world because of the weak legislation of the governments. If you look up pictures of the Industrial Revolution you are bound to see a picture of a child smeared with grease and dirt on their faces.
