World War 1 Consequences

World War 1 began in 1914 due to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and ended in 1918. The central allies included Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire who fought against the allied powers that were Serbia, Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States. This war left a dent into the world taking away, what others may call, it’s “innocence”. This war killed more people than any other war in the human history. It involved more countries than any other war recorded and was a new era for newly designed weapons. It was the first war to use airplanes, tanks, gas and long range artillery. A huge effect of this war is that it ended 4 monarchies, Germany, Austria, Russia, and Turkey. The crippling European economies which helped emerge the U.S. into being the world’s greatest economy. World War 1 ended on November 11, 1918. Nations gathered together and conducted a peace conference to ceasefire held in Paris. The victorious Allied leaders wrote a treaty that they hoped would prevent another war, however it just provoked one. The British and the French wanted revenge and their payment the had suffered from during the war. So in the treaty Germany gave them their demands and Wilson got his League of Nations, not one he had hoped for though. The financial demands put serious strain on Germany that caused Germany to lose some land and felt that the Versailles Treaty was an attempt to destroy their land but they were forced to sign it even though they felt was unfair. All parties sign the treaty on July 28, 1919. After the war ended the countries saw how brutal the war was that some say the world actually lost its innocents. Never again will the nations use automatic defense for the allies due to the fact that they lost 2 generations of men. 16.5 million people were killed and 21.2 million were
