World War 1 Monologue
I am going to tell you the story about how World War 1 impacted my life so I am going to start at the beginning. It was July 25, 1914 I was walking home from running to the market when I saw a woman crying as she watch as her husband walked to the train station. I walked up to her and asked her what was wrong. She answered back, “ Honey my husband just got a letter saying that he has to go to the war.” When I asked who all got the letter she said, “ Every man that is 19 or older.” Then I thought of my fiance he was 20 and was very strong. The lady must have been able to read my face because she said, “Oh honey you need to get home before he leaves.” I hopped up from the porch swing we had been sitting on and ran down the street. When I arrived at my little yellow house with a blue porch swing I swung open the gate and raced to the door. Then I got to thinking what if I was too late? What if he decided to go? What if he never came back if he went? I …show more content…
Can’t you understand? Please stop crying so we can talk this through.” I looked up to see his face it was worried and thoughtful. I began to stand up. When I was up William pulled me into a big hug and whispered in my ear, “ It is going to be ok I promise I will be back.” I looked up and backed away and said, “Ok you do what you feel is right.” I watched him pack his things and leave. A few days later I got a job a little manufacturing company. A few years after that I got a letter in the mail say that the war was over. I was excited because that meant that William would be coming home but that also meant that there might be something different about him. A couple days later the trains were beginning to arrive After a couple families reunited I saw William walk out of the train I ran up to him wrapped my arms around him and began I cry in his neck. He wrapped his arms around me and said, “See I told you I would be

In this paper I’m going to detail the judicial process of a Supreme Court case, which was the first of its kind. The Supreme Court did not have original jurisdiction over this case. It traveled through each juridical system before reaching the Supreme Court. This case was of interest to them, not to question it the defendant was guilty, but were his constitutional rights violated in the process of prosecuting him. This case began with an anonymous tip that the defendant was growing illegal contraband at his home. The DEA assigned Detective Padraja and Detective Bartelt to sit on the home. After making the decision that no one was home the…

    The Great War Dbq Essay

Soldiers’ view of the Great War altered dramatically as it progressed. During the early years, there was a great sense of patriotic enthusiasm. Many believed in the romantic concept of an honorable death, which could be attained by dying for one’s country. Charles Peguy illustrates this idea in evidence source 2. He asserts that those who die in great battles for their country are blessed. Although Peguy does not directly state the word country, he implies it with “a plot of ground,” “carnal cities,” and “their hearth and their fire.” Such phrases can be associated with the notion of home and this home can then be further connected to the country. The idealized concept of an honorable death in war, however, faded away in the later years of World War I as a grim reality set in. Instead, Wilfred Owen demonstrates how the “Dulce et decorum est/Pro patria mori” (It is sweet and fitting to die for one’s country) saying is actually a lie in source 8. He does so by describing a soldier’s gruesome death from gas poisoning. The agony that the solider had gone through, such as “white eyes writhing in his…

After reading the novel there were many things about my feelings towards war. Before reading the novel I always knew that war was a hard thing on a person, emotionally and physically. During the read it really showed me that what soldiers go through is really rough, from being in the war but even when returning home. One of the things that stuck out to me is how homesick soldiers get while fighting. While fighting the thought of killing humans, but yet also get yourself killed if you do one thing wrong or make a wrong step somewhere. "I will come back again" chapter 10 page #258 This Is a quote that sticks out to me in this situation. Because it just shows how hard the wars on them and how much they wanted to come back home, also how they…

World War I, also known as the Great War, was a global war centered around Europe. The first four years of “total war” that constituted World War I (1914-1918) changed the lives of not only the men who fought as soldiers, but the people who remained at home. Some effects of the Great War on the European home fronts during the first course of the war were nationalistic feelings, working women, dwindling food supplies, and the rise of socialism.…
