When we read the paper, listen to the radio, watch television, all we get bombarded with is murder, assault, and youth people causing crimes. Is there a worrying pattern emerging with our next generation getting worse than the one that preceded it? There are many theories and stories about children becoming uncontrollable to the point of a crisis. Who is to blame for the crimes of the children? Many statisticians, scientists, and historians are all calculating formulae to try to get to the root of the problem, and lay blame at somebody's door! Let us take a look at the main players, who are potential candidates for taking the blame: Television/Media: Theorists are looking at the link between television and the trend of violence. So, as a young teenager they found themselves seeking part-time employment. The right of entitlement that our children walk around with today is astounding. Work ethic hah I don't think they have one. The children in school expect to get passing grades just because they show up for school. God forbid, they might have to work for a good grade, or work for the iPod they want so badly. Their parents raised them to be responsible for their own actions, whether they be good or bad. If we brought bad grades home, it was nobody's fault but our own. "Accountability" is not in the vocabulary of this young generation. The children now will tell you that it is the teacher's fault, or a friend's fault, or a parent's fault, or the book's fault, or just plain "I don't know why I have a bad grade." Some say that parents have been getting worse for generations now. Today's parents lacked being taught social skills and manners by their parents. They simply don't have the knowledge to pass
