This is because we are just looking out of ourselves to avoid the consequences.In the order hand, we are scared that we have done something that will disappoint others. To some people, a white lie will make them happy and comfort their spirit from being hurt. when we do the wrong things, one choice to run away from punishment is a lie. We are scared about the punishment and suffering from the consequences. For instance, some parents care about their children results, if their children do not reach the school standard, the parents will punish them. As a result, the children will try to lie to their parents about the paper they have not given back, or they might change the marks by their own because they only want to escape from the punishment.
