The essay was given to us a few days before the Thanksgiving holiday. The essay required a minimum of 800 words, prewriting, outline, ad a print copy of the rough draft so that it may be reviewed by another student. Since the essay was assigned a few days before Thanksgiving and was to make up at the next week, I though I had a lot of time to think about how I was going to organize the essay. As I was looking over the peer revision paper, the student thought that the essay was good, but they did say that I should mention the people who did not cheat the government system. According to the student, the essay would improve if that piece of information was stated somewhere in the essay, but I thought that would defeat the whole purpose of my essay. About two days later, it was time to turn in the final draft of the essay to the professor. Another few days later, I had finally received the grade for the persuasive essay. I was pretty disappointed with the grade and when I checked the essay rubric, it was mentioned that my refutation was a bit faulty. As I reread the rough draft, I could see that my refutation wasn’t as good as I thought it had been, which was a bit disappointing. I also seemed to have had problems with my title, thesis, and sentence structure, but all these things will be a learning experience that I will utilize for future essays.
Overall, I believe that it is important to prioritize and manage the time wisely when given any assignment. When time is used appropriately, an ideal paper can be developed. I know now that I should ask the professor for guidance when I am unsure of something and I should try to stay more focused on the task that requires my undivided
