Homer compares the Trojans disturbing the Greeks to the boys disturbing the hornets in order to show how the Trojans have no knowledge of who they were messing with, like the boys and fools, in attacking the Greeks. Homer says, ” infuriating the hive-the little fools- until the insects become a menace to all” (16.268-272). This essentially illustrates that the greeks are fools and like boys by not evaluating the outcome of what would be certain to happen when they decide to attack the black ships. Instead they are , driven by impulse. According to Homer, the insects, “attack any traveller who happens by, swarming out in defense of their brood”. The insects, which are the Greeks, become infuriated and turn into a hazard. The insects ,just as…
There are several different types of advertising in the world today, like newspaper ads and magazine ads. Then there are commercials, they can be very manipulative in persuading specific audiences to buy their products. In the Pepsi Next “Dancing Baby” commercial, they use what is called a trick image. It is the funniest part of the commercial and is what makes it so appealing. This trick image is the baby in the back ground dancing and doing tricks; it is very eye catching and hilarious in my opinion. This commercial uses different types of appeals to make it more interesting. The husband and wife mention some of the statistics about the product to help enhance Pepsi Next. The target audience is parents of children six months to one year of age and new mothers trying to lose weight. This commercial affects me positively because it is funny and the statistics are true.…

What is a thesis statement? A thesis is an interpretive statement, not merely a factual one. It offers an explanation for events, not merely a description or summary of what happened. Consider the difference between the declarations that "the North won the Civil War" and "the North used its greater population and industrial might to defeat the Confederacy." Or, alternately, consider the difference between the following statements: “The South lost the Civil War” and “Ultimately, the South failed to muster the manpower, resources, and popular will necessary to win the war against the Union.” You are encouraged to review the guide to writing a history essay and sample essays posted on our Blackboard class site.…

Henry Ford once said, “Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” In Eudora Welty 's short story "A Worn Path,” a figure of an old African-American woman, Phoenix Jackson, emerges. As she makes her way toward town in a path she seems to have taken many times before, she has to overcome many obstacles. She represents struggle, but most of all she represents determination. Every move she makes seems to be a slow, gradual move towards her goal. The story gives insight to the persistence and boldness of Phoenix Jackson’s life to emphasize the struggle in other people’s lives.…

At such a young age these children had to learn that their parents would not always provide and protect them, so they needed to learn to do so on their own.…
A thesis takes a position on an issue. It is different from a topic sentence in that a thesis statement is not neutral. This is your reason and motivation for writing.…
