Ww1 Alliances Causes

World War one, an unexpected slaughter of men that seemed to have started by an assassination and unfortunate alliances.This was quite the contrary. The four year long war that spanned from 1914-1918 was caused by long standing and unspoken alliances and tensions that dated back to 1880. The first main alliance was the Triple alliance composed of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. The second association was made up by France, Great Britain, and Russia and were known as the Triple entente. These alliances may have been one cause of the outbreak of WW1. Therefore the underlying causes of WW1 were militarism, alliances, and imperialism.
Militarism is defined as “a belief or desire that a government or people should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively.” In the London times History of the world (document C) it shows that by 1890 Great Britain, Germany, and other countries that would play an important role in the following years were spending millions of pounds in artillery. Why? Each country was competing against each other on who had the best of everything. One thing they were competing on at this time
Even though, a couple alliances were made while imperialism and militarism were taking effect I do not believe it greatly caused WW1. If you look closely at history, you’ll see that in 1887 Germany made some negotiations with Russia without ever informing Austria-Hungary. Next, imperialism and militarism come in. For example, to expand one's country you need a boat or tank and soldiers with weapons. How else would you take a nation’s land without weapons that would scare them? While many powers were consuming land, others were afraid yet inspired. Afraid that they might get taken over but inspired to do the same.
