We are the dais of Union of South American Nations, sincerely hoping to witness your active participation and constructive solutions to crisis with your comprehensive view of this conference.
The unsmooth development of UNASUR started with a long road of union and integration. Though UNASUR is a relatively young international organization, the idea of promoting the integration of South America was early put forward in 1842, by the South American revolutionary leader and liberator, Simon Bolivar. The great man passed away with his will unfulfilled after advocating an equal and permanent union constituted by all the newly independent Spanish American countries. However, it’s worrying for most of the South America countries that the integration is undoubtedly hampered.
Though certain countries have reached the consensus of strengthening and promoting the integration of South America,members states of UNASUR diverge on many core issues because of the disparity of national strength, especially the levels of economic development, and the difference of foreign policy.
On behalf of the heads of states or the government, honorable delegates, you will respectively discuss two key sensitive issues, free trade and the regional security, within the framework of UNASUR in this committee. As we all know, many problems and puzzles will probably emerge during the process of thinking about this two issues, but nothing can keep us from facing and solving them. However, the significance and meaning of this conference is not your eventually solutions to these puzzles and problems but your consideration of these issues in a new
