This place is dominated by the tribe that the men who are taller only reach to 150 cm. This indigenous tribe is called “Yali Tribe” or in another name “Papua Pygmy Cannibals.” They are discovered around 1970s (Yali Tribe, n.d.). Many people believe they are the most dread cannibals in the western of new guinea. The reasons why people call Yali is the most brutal tribe is because Yalis always and completely eliminate their enemies. There is a rumor says that other than eating the enemies body, they also crush the opponents bones until it turns to dust, and then throw it in a jungle. The research states that they did all of this to scare the enemies, and to protect themselves from the past that they used to be killed. Yali Tribe members live in houses that are made from cut planks and pandas leaves. Women and men are live separately. A word that scare many people who had heard it. This is the most famous tribe in Papua, and where the son of New York governor had disappeared forever since 1961, Michelle Rockefeller (CBS NEWS, 2014). Go back to hundred years ago in a time of war, Asmat member practiced cannibalism by eating their enemy brains mixed up with a worm, called “Sako”. However, not only humans brain, this famous tribe also eat animals brain as well. Moreover, they also used to use a skull of human instead of using pillow. Near the sea on the south of the New Guinea Island, is where this community is living. They built a long house for the members to live together. Six or ten members are living in the same place. The myth of head-hunters are occurred in this tribe, but actually they also have a “hunted for a name” ritual. All the member of this cannibal tribe do not has their own name. The name would be given if they can killed the enemies only. Sometimes, children may have a name when they are born, but ten years later. These kids have to learn how to fight and get their own name from the men they killed (“the Most Dread cannibals”, n.d.). Thank to the god, missionaries have changed it a lot to change this place, so these stories of Asmat are now be just a history.
