The social organizations shows how some are being used as the social classes today. Wilma Mankiller was one of the first women voted in as principal chief for the Cherokee Nation. Wilma was married to Hugo Olaya and started her career as a social worker in 1963. Her group she started called the AIM group was protesting the breaking of treaties and the violation of Native American human rights by the federal government. Wilma ended up getting divorced in 1976, and returned back home after her divorce. She then became a community development director of the Cherokee Nation in her home town. A Cherokee community developer named Charlie Soap ended up marrying her. …show more content…
The common language the Cherokees spoke was the Indigenous language. Most of the people from the North, Middle, and South America speak this language. In North America they still speak 200 different languages. At the first European contact more than 300 to 400 different languages were spoken.
