Yes, Let's Pay For Organs

As everyone knows, there are millions of people waiting desperately for an organ to save their life's. Now a days there are countries like Singapore that allows the commercialization of organs for a really high amount. Even though; United States prohibited the option to sell organs for money, I believe that having the option to save other people by selling an organ is a very smart idea. In "Yes, let's Pay for Organs" by Charles Krauthammer; a political columnist, writes an essay to demonstrate that maybe selling organs for a low price would and may help to our society in general. As Krauthammer noted,"62,000 Americans desperately awaiting organ transplantation"(621). Nowadays there are fewer people who are willing to donate an organ. Why do people decide not to donate an organ when they die? There are people who are sick and that limits the changes for it. However, there are millions of people that have their kidneys in good condition but they are so selfish and they can give anything to help others. According to Krauthammer," The Pennsylvania program is not jut justified, it is too timid. It seeks clean hand by clean hands by paying third parties- the funeral homes... and why not $3,000
instead of $300?"(621). The purpose of the program is to reduce the humongous waiting list in order to save millions of people, this program has some clauses that people must follow in order to receive the award. An article from the American Medical News suggest that a monetary help would not be a bad idea in order to reduce the enormous list.
According to the American Medical Association," a modest sum of $1,000 in the form of a death benefit would be so great a financial temptation to deter strongly held beliefs". This will help to a lot of people that are suffering from illness and are waiting desperately for a organ. A high percentage of people do not donate their organs and if the government decides to pass a law in order to save people's life, things will be different. People need to take this seriously because there are people counting with you and if you let them down, you will regret for the rest of your life knowing that you could easily save someone's life and you did
not. The state of Pennsylvania wants to do something to reduce the waiting list in United States. They want to pass a law that gives them permission to pay to the families 300 dollars for this courage decision. As Medical Ethic Advisor noted, " PennsylvaniaEs governor are devising a plan to pay families of organ donors a $300 stipend to offset funeral costs. The idea is to encourage families to consider donation because the need for organs is much higher than the number of available organs". As everyone knows, millions of people are waiting for help and the government need to find the way to save their life's. I strongly agree that this monetary award is a very good strategy to get more people into organ donation and by this we will save millions of people. This is something that should not be happening but it is, and we need to help each other as much as we can. We need to stop being so selfish thinking only on us and start to think about the new generations and others.
