Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was arguably one of the most important time periods in England. The revolution was a time period when every day, life changing innovations were invented. For example, products such as the steam engine, the telegraph, and the cotton gin. During the Industrial Revolution, both man and machine were affected due to the changes.
Many changes were made economically and socially during the 1800’s. Especially for the farmers in the rural areas because they were able to produce food much faster and more efficiently due to the new machines that were usable in the fields. Irrigation and new water supply methods help make agriculture become more efficient. The more efficient agriculture also included farmers being able to purchase fertilizers and new tools for them to be utilized. Before the Industrial Revolution, people did not have any other transportation besides horses and walking, therefore not being able to travel far from where they lived making trade more difficult. However, in the 1800’s because people had quick transportation such as, trains and ships, people can purchase goods from various different towns. Now that transportation was in play this was good because the spread of industrialism would help England because the more goods that were produced the more they had for trade. England profited the most off of trade because they were able to trade some of their natural resources with other countries such as iron. The industrial Revolution was said to actually expand slavery. With the increase in crop development there was a higher demand rate for slaves. With this increasing demand for slaves larger ships were being constructed in order to be able to carry more slaves in a single roundtrip across the Atlantic. This introduced a new era of ship architecture as they begun to build ships with better stability and reliance. Farmers were now going out of their way to buy slaves because it seemed as a larger
