Zeus And Jupiter Zeus: Father Of The Gods
Greek Mythology Explanation/Description: Implication (When you see this term in a poem or text, what is the purpose of including this reference?)
Zeus/Jupiter Zeus is greatly seen as a Father-of-All figure and acts as the “Father of the Gods.” He, by the help of his mother’s, Rhea’s, conniving ways, successfully overthrew his evil father, Kronos. Rhea gave birth to Zeus in secret, and gave Kronos, who was infamous for devouring his own children, a stone wrapped in a blanket as a decoy for Zeus. Once Zeus freed his siblings by inducing Kronos to vomit them out, Zeus imprisoned Kronos in Tartarus, a prison for the Titans.

Zeus, god of the sky, was married to Hera. He is also known for his numerous affairs and many powerful children. He greatly

His over-the-top, arrogant, cunning personality largely affected the decisions he made (occasionally, changing the messages he delivered). Although he was deceptive in some ways, he was also helpful. His caduceus marks his willingness to heal others. He once halted a fight between two snakes, as the myth goes, and ever since then, the snakes have intertwined on his caduceus. His symbols include the lyre, pipes, his winged attire, and sandals. An allusion to Hermes would signify trickery or deception, as well as cunning and arrogance. As the god of athletics, the character may be handsome and fit. This allusion could also refer to someone’s speed and quickness in activity, as Hermes was swift in delivering …show more content…
Commander of the dead, Hades is hardly ever worshipped. His most iconic story is his kidnapping of Persephone from Earth. He has a dark, cold and cruel behavior about him, yet, he is always just in his decisions. His symbols include his invisibility helmet, called the “Helm of Darkness,” and his three-headed guard dog Cerberus. When an author refers to a character as a ‘Hades’ he is emphasizing the character’s stern, unpitying qualities that keep him distant from others. It is not necessarily that the character is a villain, but that he has been put in such circumstances that mold him to act like one. Although dark, Hades can be passionate (as he was with Persephone). His convictions are strong and he is unwilling to bend them for anyone, except for maybe that special someone

After Hades and his brothers defeated their father to claim rulership over the cosmos, they decided to split their rule. Poseidon became the god of the sea, Zeus became the god of the skies, and Hades became the god of the underworld. Hades longed for a bride so he called on his brother Zeus to offer him one. Zeus provided him the daughter of Demeter, who was named Persephone. Hades knew she would resist the marriage so he forcefully kidnapped her. The goddesses Hera, Hestia, and Demeter and the gods Zeus and Poseidon were Hades' siblings. Hades' father, Cronus, swallowed him…

In the myth, there are no true opposite heroes and villains, as Hera aids Hercules in bringing misfortune upon himself, not Hades. According to the myth, Hades does not care about the domains outside the Underworld; since they do not belong to him, he does not dwell upon them either. However, because the colors which represent him are black and grey, the reaction to Hades is one of mystery, fear, and hatred. Disney decided to create this impression to a greater extent, as in the movie Hercules, Hades is given the role as the ultimate evil, "I've got 24 hours to get rid of this bozo, or the entire scheme I've been setting up for 18 years goes up in smoke" (Musker and Clements). Disney's obsession with good versus evil is apparent; Hades being a madman who plans to take over the world is a common setup as the polar opposite of a story's main protagonist. Also, because Disney targets viewers of elementary school ages, it would be too perplexing for young children to understand the aspects of infidelity and why the character portrayed as Hercules' mother, Hera, is punishing her own child. All in all, to protect their own reputation and their viewers, Disney shows Hades as a servant of Hell, rather than a lord of “The Land…

There aren’t many other myths about Hades, but there are countless myths about the other gods’ wrongdoings. For instance, after prometheus gave man the gift of fire, zeus chained him to a rock and sent eagles to eat at him for the rest of eternity. Zeus also frequently cheated on his wife Hera by sexually assaulting Greek women. Hera would then take revenge by torturing the women whom zeus had assaulted (2,x). There are many more myths about the other gods’ evil acts, and in comparison to them Hades seems to be…

Hercules is one of the most famous and recognizable Greek Legends that people have knowledge about. Hercules is known for his strength and the adventurous mind that he had. Hercules is the son of Zeus, the God of the sky. Hercules' mother was a mortal named Alcmene. However, most people do not know of the dark side of Hercules' past. Hercules had constant conflict with Zeus's wife Hera, the Queen of the gods. Hera didn't like the amount of attention Zeus would give to Hercules, compared to how much she was given, so she often started conflicts between herself and Hercules. After being tortured for so long, Hercules lost his mind and went into a state of anger and confusion. This resulted in him killing his own wife and children. When Hercules returned to his normal state of mind, he was in shock and ashamed of what he had done and went into a severe depression. Hercules asked Apollo for guidance during this situation and he was told by Apollo that he had to be punished for what he had done; He had to work for Eurystheus for 12 years doing 12 Labors. With the help of many people , Hercules was able to finish these 12 Labors, which gained him the title of Greece's greatest hero.…

    What Is Hades Evil

Hades respects the dead and sends you to wherever you deserve to go in the underworld ( if bad you were bad you go to Tartarus, which is the where the worst of the worst go to get tormented for eternity, and if were a good person you go to the nice part of the underworld, Elysian Fields.) Hades helped in the titan war against, well the titans, and Kronos. When Hades was given the unwanted job of the underworld he wasn't too pleased, but when he did get the job he didn't complain, he was willing to do anything to help Olympus thrive and succeed. He has been put through lots of mental pain. For example: He has been down in the underworld for thousands of years without human interaction what so ever, except for the occasional visit from Persephone. The many years down there has taken a toll on his body, maybe he's a bit more likely to snap at you then he was when he was first put down there, maybe that's why people think he's evil. He was willing to work and get his hands dirty, and do anything to help the gods. Hades is also powerful, he has a pitchfork that can create earthquakes, not that this is a good thing, but people would probably actually be afraid to break the rules so there would be less crime if he was in charge. Also since hades is the god of the underworld he would encounter many people each day( since many people day) and would get very angry at anyone who tried to cheat death, so their would also be less suicide in this society. If you do cheat death you get sent to Tartarus which is the worst part of the underworld, and I'm pretty sure no one would want to get tormented for eternity. Hades is one of the eldest and most wise gods so he would know what to do in certain…
