Zika Research Papers
Well, as most people know, the Zika Virus is a big deal and a very controversial issue not only in foreign counries, but also in the United States as well. The Zika Virus is a mosquito-borne virus that is rapidly spreading across the globe. It is part of the family of yellow fever. In the long run, the virus causes brith defects in pregnancies. The virus has been spread to 34 countries and territories and a director from the World Health Organization (WHO) said that it is an ‘extraordinary event’. The WHO researches also predicted that 3 to 4 million people in the America’s will be affected by this virus in the next year. Since October, Brazil has confirmed just over 500 cases microcephaly in newborns, what causes them to have abnormally small heads and birth defects.

Seventeen of these cases have been confirmed to be linked to the Zika Virus. So far, 27 babies have died from this condition since 2014 and the numbers are continuing to rise. The United States along with other countries are telling pregnant women to avoid traveling in those areas.
Also, the health officials in several of those countries are telling the women to avoid pregnancy for up to two years, in most cases. I feel that it is pretty crazy to think that this is true. I cannot believe that we are that prone to having this virus and I feel that I should be scared of the place I live because there seems to be no cure to it and no one is taking action because of the long-term effects that could be put in place. Antoher thing that bothers me is that there is no way to prevent getting the Zika Virus. The scientists and researchers that are in charge of finding more information out about hte Zika Virus still haven’t found out anythign mroe, at this point. The only realy “prevention” is to avoid the ares that have an active infestation. The main importance of this article is how anything can happen, even with everything that we hve today. What I mean by that is that we have so much advanced technology and computers and everything that is able to help us learn and up our knowledge, yet sketchy things like this are still happening in this world
today.
