Zippy's Waipahu Character Analysis

Our last writing assignment for the semester tasked us with choosing a location and writing short stories or poems encapsulating four different characters. I chose to use Zippy’s Waipahu for my project. My first character I thought about writing a story on was my Boss. He is the store Manager at Zippy’s Waipahu and works full time. He is hardworking, responsible, and the kindest person you could possibly think of. The second character I thought about writing about was my Colleague. She is a full-time server and a full-time mommy to 5 kids. She is hilarious, outgoing, and hardworking. The third character I wrote about was these regular customers. These regular customers are very kind, picky, and sweet. The fourth character I wrote about was
the beggar. She has a family, but she is always at Zippy’s begging for money and food. The purpose of writing these characters, aside from it being a required assignment, was to get our creative juices flowing. This type of writing is not typical academic writing. However, we did use skills that we can apply to other types of writing. For this assignment, we took real-life inspiration and applied it to our short stories. During the process of writing my four characters I used a different writing process than the one I normally use for academic papers; however, the skills I practiced for this assignment are applicable to papers in other disciplines. The relationship between the planning I did for the characters and the way I wrote my characters was choosing my location, characters, and describing each and every character. I chose my characters based on how they were significant to me and how they impacted me. For each of my characters, I created an outline describing each character based on what they like, dislike, motivations, and their flaws. Each of these characters stories was based on how they played a role in my career, and I also created stories that were not truly accurate to spice the story up.
