Zodiac Signs

Astrology is the study of stars. Though many disregard the stars as nothing more than just dots in the sky with the occasional person who can spot The Big Dipper, there are those who believe the constellations that the stars comprise to represent different types of people, also known as the zodiac.
The word Zodiac comes from the Greek word Zodion, which means “Little animal.” The zodiac signs are the constellations along the Ecliptic at the respective points at certain days of the year. The zodiac signs are: Leo the Lion, Gemini the Twins, Aries the Ram, Sagittarius the Centaur, Taurus the Bull, Virgo the Virgin, Cancer the Crab, Libra the Scales, Capricorn the Seagoat, Scorpio the Scorpion, Aquarius the Water Bearer, and Pisces the Fish. One can find their zodiac sign by using a Celestial Sphere, a model of space by representing constellations and other astronomical figures on an imaginary bubble surrounding the earth. On the path in which the sun moves, known as the ecliptic, there are the individual days of the year. If a person finds where the sun meets their
birthday, whichever zodiac constellation that is closest is their zodiac sign.
There were originally only the aforementioned 12 zodiac signs. However, some astrologers had added the 13th zodiac, known as Ophiuchus. In the break between Scorpio and Sagittarius, there is a period of only 19 days where Ophiuchus is considered to be a zodiac sign. Therefore, anyone born between November 30th and December 17th are “truly” an Ophiuchus. Though many astrologers find the addition to be somewhat strange and refuse to accept it, technically, there are more than 12 zodiac signs, which have shifted the dates for the other signs; meaning, that perhaps when someone was once a Scorpio, they are now an Ophiuchus. People under the sign of Ophiuchus, the Serpent Holder, have mostly proven to be very lucky, ambitious, intelligent, and vibrant, while also being very jealous.
All of the zodiac have specific traits that define many of the people under that sign.
For example, many Taurus are known to be stubborn and loyal, while most Sagittarius are prone to being proud and impatient. Though this does not apply to every single person under their given sign, it does show more often than not, which is the reason that a good majority of people believe in the zodiac. Every single sign also has a specific element that it is compatible with. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are fire, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are earth, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are water, and Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are air. They can also be categorized by their “gender,” which is a reference to the Yin and Yang of Chinese origin. Signs that are feminine are: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. While other signs that are masculine are: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, Libra, and
Aquarius.
The zodiac are interesting concepts, whether you choose to believe it or not. There are those who think that they are supernatural existences that affect us all, and that they could predict how their life will go based on the patterns and what their strengths and weaknesses are. Despite what a lot of skeptics say, it is still neat to see what your sign is and figure out if it applies to you or not.
