I. Introduction
I am going to start giving a question “Would you report to the police if you see your neighbor smoking marijuana?” to audience.
I then will say that their attitude is changing to legalizing marijuana.
II. Body
A. Need
Indiana has the 17th highest drug overdose mortality rate in the United States, with 14.4 per 100,000 people suffering drug overdose fatalities. Legalizing Marijuana would resolve this problem because pot can reduce use of strong drugs.
Also, 23 states and DC have already Legal Medical Marijuana because it has medicinal purposes. Thus, Indiana people who are suffering from cancer, HIV and so on should have a right to use medicinal purposes.
B. Satisfaction
If there are some concern about side effects of legalizing marijuana, it would be useful for the Government to have a pilot test.
C. Visualization
Marijuana can reduce use of strong drugs. For example, in the case of the Netherlands which already enforces the legalization of pot, other drug use is markedly decreased.
Marijuana has medicinal purposes: stopping HIV, slowing the spread of cancer cells, being an active pain reliever, helping with other neurological damage.
III. Conclusion
If the positive aspects of marijuana outweigh negative, we should give careful consideration to its legalization.
