A Journey of my Life Everything has a history. Everyone has their own endeavor. It depends on how they take it, how they overcome each situation and how they will face each circumstance that made their endeavor meaningful. As a student, I am leaving a very simple yet a fruitful life. I started as a toddler who wants to be my parents be proud of me. I did my very best to study hard and to receive an award every end of the school year. Then I came to the first ground of my studies, my elementary days. At this point of my life, I gained lot of friends. I had a lot of chances to meet and face different kind of people. This really affects me as a person and as a student. But the thing is that I had to overcome each temptation that I know may have a bad effect to my studies. I also joined the varsity in school so as my extra-curricular activity. And as I end the first ground of my studies, I thank God because I still had my award as one of the top students in the class. Then I entered to my high school life. I can say that this is the most adventurous and wonderful part of my life. This is the time that I met my true friends. And until now, we are still all together. I can say that our friendship will never end and we will all be friends until the end of time. And now, I am in my tertiary level, my college life. This is a wider world for me. I spent my 1st and 2nd year at TIP (Technological Institute of the Philippines). At this point, I had my girlfriend. We were like Romeo and Juliet. I made her my life, my world and everything. But our relationship didn’t last very long. We ended our relationship because of a very important reason- God. I had a failing grade there so my parents decided I’ll stop studying as a punishment. At this point, I had my girlfriend. We were like Romeo and Juliet. I made her my life, my world and everything. But our relationship didn’t last very long. I am not going to start this off with a quote because that's what everyone else is doing. I am Avery Peak and I hate doing things someone has already done. I like being creative in my own way, that's why I have a grain shoot for an exhaust in my truck and rolling on 37inch mud tires.…

I’m happy with who I am today, just as everyone should be. But if I could change anything about myself, I’d want to have more motivation to do things. In the mornings before school I can barely get out of bed because I’m so tired and don’t want to go to school. I’m exceedingly intelligent but I don’t have any drive. I procrastinate on most of my work, and sometimes I just don’t want to do the work. Right now I’m rank 14 in my class but I could’ve been higher if I had any drive my freshman year. I don’t think about how my decisions now will impact me later and when I do, I don’t really care. I also don’t have much motivation to do things in sports activities. Last year I played volleyball and I never had that much playing time. Never being able…

An event that marked my transition from childhood to adulthood would be the day I moved to the United States From Dominican Republic four years ago. I was fourteen years old when my family and I decided to change our lives. My mother always wanted a better future for our family., therefore she decided this would be the best for all of us. At first it was indubitable difficult for me to become accustomed to a new country, leaving the rest of my family behind. It was a challenge, but I am proud to say that even if I had atrocious days where people criticized me by reason…

Imagine looking down at your phone and seeing an incredibly long text message from your best friend. This is inscrutable coming from her, so you start to panic. As you open the message, your heart drops as she reveals that her grandmother, the person she is closest to in the world, has just passed away. This happened to me late my junior year of high school, and my heart broke for her. Concerned, I immediately ordered a large cheese pizza and peach iced tea, her favorite comfort foods, and rushed to her house.…

One thing that sets me apart from the other candidates applying to the University of California is my hard work. I have always been smaller than other kids my age. At 15 years old I was 4’ 10’’ and looked like I was eleven years old. Although this was an advantage at the airport, when I would begin to take off my shoes and the TSA Officer would look at me and say, “Don’t worry twelve and under can keep their shoes on.” I was often discredited for my size. Especially because I played volleyball, a sport known for its height. I constantly struggled to make a team I deserved to be on because people would see my height and automatically think I was not capable. Although my height often led me to feel discouraged and angry it eventually taught hard work.…

The advice that was given to me about writing my personal statement is that whatever I wrote, it must be a statement that came directly from the heart. I’ve found that in order to do this, I must actually write about my heart. When I was born, doctors discovered that I had a ventricular septal defect. The defect needed to be repaired, or I would have been wheelchair-bound and not lived past my fifth birthday. The experience of my heart surgery was not only life-altering for me, but for my parents as well. I was their first-born child, and they had just purchased their first home. It is hard enough to learn the ropes of becoming a parent - but to be the parents to a very ill child was something they had never prepared for. They always…

Most teenagers do not have a clue about what they want to be when they grow up. Most young adults also do not know where their path is in life. Even some full-blown adults are still trying to figure out their purpose. I was lucky. I knew exactly where I belonged from about the time I was seven up until now, at the decently young age of nineteen. I do not see my path changing anytime soon; in fact, I know it will never change. There were lots of things I experienced in my life that made me realize my purpose, my absolute passion. I had four of these defining moments in my short span of…
