Dear Mr. Buchanan, I, Jay Gatsby owe you a formal apology as I have finally come to the realization that my actions towards you and your partner Daisy were unacceptable and utterly immoral. It was my jealous heart that envied your relationship with Daisy and I take full responsibility for my actions. Tom, you respectively earned Daisy’s love and I attempted to steal that from you. For that I am truly sorry. I don’t expect you to ever forgive me, but I can at least try. The unruly remark that came out of my heated foul mouth was, “Your wife doesn’t love you, she’s never loved you” and it was completely uncalled for. Such an ill-tempered statement was an insult to your respectable personality, but alas I did not realize the cruelty in my words until now, so I apologize. As you know, my harsh comments did not stop there and yet again I slandered your nature by asking Daisy to, “just tell him the truth – that you never loved him – and it’s all wiped out forever”. But only recently have I come to the realization that Daisy did truly love you, maybe even more than she did me. It seems that my ideology of Daisy’s love was simply a misconception because after I asked to speak with her alone she said, “even alone I can’t say I never loved Tom, it wouldn’t be true”. So on that note, I conclude this letter of apology by admitting that my words were utterly immoral and frankly, incorrect as Daisy righteously loves you and I was simply a bump to overcome in your prominent relationship.
Wishing you and daisy all the best,
Jay
